2010 is taking the world by storm. There is an energy and a spirit about people like nothing I’ve seen before. Have you observed or felt this, too? A sudden rise in awareness, perhaps hope, clarity, and direction? Some would say our desires are more clear than before and our energy even stronger and lively. Sounds like 2009 really riled us up!
I got to thinking about the simple yet important things of life. The small acts, gestures, and moves forward that we often don’t recognize. The way we choose to experience the daily events of life. The goals that we put out there and then have fun journeying to. But mostly, I thought about the simple things that often we don’t allow ourselves to experience until we’ve completed our 150 page thesis, our 50 phone calls, answered all emails, delivered the kids safely to practice, cooked dinner, completed all laundry, and cared for everrryyyone else. By then, do you have much to give? Do you even care? I didn’t think so.
So today is FRIDAY. Today is for FUN, FREEDOM, and Fuzzy Slippers, if you feel so inclined! I have a fun and exciting assignment for you. Are you ready?
Do at least one nourishing thing for yourself today that you don’t normally do, but you happen to enjoy a great deal.
Pick something you will do for at least 10 minutes. Perhaps you:
- Buy yourself a coffee
- Stretch
- Take yourself for a walk (take the dog too, if you have one… he’ll love you forever and lift your energy level)
- Go for a drive
- Journal for 20 minutes
- Read for 20 minutes just for fun
- Go to yoga
- Meditate
- Listen to your favorite music
The list is limitless and your opportunity to experience satisfaction today is up to you. Your day is busy, it’s long, it’s Friday and you just want it to be over. I get it. And yet, you know the more you give to yourself and nurture who you are and what you enjoy, the more you have to give to others. It’s okay to be selfish. Aren’t you worth 20 minutes of joy?
As you nurture yourself today, you are building a strong and vibrant foundation for tomorrow. Actions aren’t just line items on a to-do list. They tie into our beliefs, our energy, our awareness, and our overall results in life. So do something simple for at least 10 minutes, knowing this act is creating more of that same goodness. And by gosh, feel good doing it!!
