I Should Have Arrived

Have You Arrived?

Have You Arrived?

Yes, I actually caught myself saying that today. I was feeling particularly tired and realized that I woke up feeling completely overwhelmed by the thought of an entire day before me. Daunting? A whole beautiful day before me was suddenly daunting? What was I thinking?

Here’s the deal. At some point, during some time, I decided that there was a certain place I should be, a certain way I should feel and a particular position I should be in right here and now in my life. I can’t even completely define where that place is, but by golly it’s somewhere and every time I don’t live up to this hidden agenda, I can feel it. Talk about unfair! Have I really been beating myself up over something I had no idea I was even supposed to be living up to?

When will I stop thinking I have somewhere to work up to before I will “arrive”? When will THIS be enough?

So, I peeled myself from my bed at 5:45am and forced myself to yoga, knowing that consistency is key. That yoga makes me feel better, and my emotions don’t need to determine, or undermine the goodness of my day.

Spirit In Action

That started me thinking about every action I take throughout my days. Since we’re all connected energetically and constantly experiencing an ebb and flow, I wondered, “What does it all equate to? What does it mean?” And it occurred to me that it’s not so important what we’re doing, but the spirit in which we do it. What a relief! See, I’ve had this fear of “arriving” or… should I say, never arriving. Where I think I’m going, I have no idea. Is it just me, or do other people feel this way, too? So, it calms my nerves to know that so long as I am moving forward in the spirit of joy, creativity, doing things I enjoy, good things will come.

Have You Arrived?

I like to remind myself, that I’ve already arrived. I am here to enjoy this wonderfully luscious thing called life. Like a buffet, I get to choose from it what I want and move on from the rest. The same is true for you. So, what do you choose to experience? How will you act knowing that there is no far off destination, that you have arrived in the here and now?

Embrace today. You’ve got it going on… You have arrived. Today.
