This video gem caught my attention after my experience yesterday… I had a last minute deadline to meet Friday by 5pm… It was 12:23pm when I remembered and there was no way I could execute this in 4.5 hours under normal paradigms. So, after a fleeting moment of frustration, panic, and a sprinkling of anger, I thought, “No, I am not going to choose to go down like this. How can I get this done in a way that’s different than the tradition method?” I know that I have talent in areas that others don’t in this particular task… I could do something differently here and actually get this done AND look savvy doing it. It could work!” I thought. I heard Barbara, my colleague with The Winning Edge words echoing in my head:
It’ll work if you work it.
So, I worked it… and it worked! I ended up challenging myself to complete tasks that otherwise would’ve relied on the time, talents and abilities of others to meet my deadline. Not only did I meet the deadline, I blew it out of the water. I completed this task in only 45 minutes.
