Happy Mother's Day Mom!
To the wonderful, loving, giving mothers who have raised and nurtured me in my life. Even to those who have simply smiled at me as I passed you by on the street. Thank you for the validation. This is for you. You know who you are.
Today I Celebrate You
May you know, whether you hear it often enough or not just how much you change our world. May you understand that it is in the questions you ask, that special look you give us, your willingness to stay up late and talk, wait up for us, understand us when we don’t even understand ourselves, never talk down to us, always lift us up to our feet, and be the first to kiss our dirt stained face full of tears.
May you know that the mere fact that we take so much that you’ve created for us for granted, is a symbol of your success. Backwards, I know, but it really is true. The fact that life works out for us in such incredible ways, and that we are capable, functioning human beings with purpose, dreams, love and awareness is your success too. Do you feel that?
May you know that…
We will spend our childhood soaking up your wisdom,
Our adolescence challenging it all,
Our early twenties becoming aware of just how much
you gave of yourself, your love, and your life
to grow into the human beings we longed to become since birth.
And in our late twenties we will think of you and carry you with us in everything we do.
As for the rest of our years… I’m sure it’ll be nothing short of remarkable.
We Think Of You Often
– When we laugh so hard we can’t hardly breathe, we’ll think of you.
– When we try to pick the right artichoke from the produce department your voice will echo “Green healthy leaves. Make sure it squeaks a little when you squeeze it”.
– When we meet your new friends and they say, “You must be your incredible mother’s daughter. You look alike.”
– When we turn on the television we will hear “Does this program make you feel good to watch? Are you going to leave feeling uplifted?” and we will find a program that does just that.
– We will give openly of our time, energy and resources to strangers in honor of you.
– When we pass by fresh roses at the Farmer’s Market and we look to see if they have your favorite rose called Peace (see we listen, too).
– When we shake someone’s hands, no one’s will quite compare to the fit of your guidance through childhood.
– When Celine Dion comes on the radio, I’ll remember the concert you took me to in Las Vegas for my birthday. I’ll belt out that song with all of my heart.
– When we see a mother and small child of her own with the same mannerisms as you, we’ll think of you and silently we will thank you.
– When our hopes and dreams come true, and we feel alive in the world, we will thank you for being the first to believe in us. We will bring you along to celebrate. You started a good thing.

Thank You For Always Having My Back
This Is What Mother’s Day Means To Us
So on Mother’s Day, may you receive the words and gestures you need to know that your hard soul work is paying off. May you know that we will mess up – we just will. Heck, we are supposed to. It’s kind of our job and (shh… we find it a little fun sometimes, too), but do know that it is what we choose to do with the twists and turns that develop our character. We will be okay. We will contribute. We will love.
You may not be the perfect Mom, but you were the perfect Mom for each of us. Remember that always.
And when we grow, we will return home for a few reasons:
- Your love
- Your hugs
- The only true “homemade” meals
- Your advice
- Your approval… yes, we still need validation.
- It is home. We all want to know we can go home to feel anything we need to.
My Dearest Friend – thank you for an amazing tribute to not only mothers like me but to all those women who bring forward life in its fullest. So it is very easy to say – right back at you! You nurture and provide a wisdom to all those you meet and we are appreciative of you. Namaste, Karen
I receive this.
Thank you, Karen.
