Recently, I’ve tuned into the reason why the qualities I admire most in others matter so much… The ability to be AWAKE, authentic and aware, are a few of the most important gifts we give each other. So I started putting it into practice both in my daily work interactions, my friendships, my family relationships, my therapy appointments, and this blog.
I’ve been allowing myself look back and to think, feel, process and accept more of what is the truth of my life and my experiences. The real truth, not just the rosy colored glass I often held up to make it okay, to mask it, or to reflect it away.
And while I’m learning that that more I see, the less I know, the things I do know, I know for certain. I think this is what it means to look within and find our truth.
The capacity to find a space in life and the courage to let go, and look within and completely fall apart so we can rebuild is one of the most painfully beautiful things. We are each a world within and to stop and truly see it for what it is, with love, compassion and understanding is breathtaking and sometimes heartbreaking. That’s life, it’s honest, it’s raw, it’s real.
As I see myself in a more truthful light, able to hold the joy and the pain, I notice that I see the same in others. We all have a story, we all want love, happiness, and approval. We all want to know we’ve made a difference in this world. We all want to matter. We all want to be thought of and missed.
The gift of knowing ourselves, overflows with compassion in the truest giving.
