Meet Lacy

“I don’t like to gamble, but if there’s one thing I’ll bet on, it’s myself.” -Beyonce

Hey, I’m Lacy! I think this is the part where I’m supposed to woo you with my corporate background and educated prowess.

Instead, I’ll tell you about more interesting things here:

The Important Things I know For Sure:
I am certain that communication is the key to love, understanding is the gateway to compassion and happiness is the joy we live when we listen to our heart and live from there.

5 Mistakes I have Made or Negative Things I’ve Thought About Myself:
- Nearly sabotaged my dream job because I didn’t believe I was good enough to deserve it
- Contemplated suicide in high school believing my family would hurt less and be better off without having to worry about me
- Maxed out credit cards for a job I believed was my”only shot”
- Moved home 4 days after starting college. Dropped out of college twice
- Believed I was the cause of my parents’ separation, failed dreams, and financial struggle

*See? It’s not pretty, but we’ve all got similar stories hiding inside. When we stop and get present with where we are, no matter how messy, then we can begin to create, to heal, to live fully and connect with others.

Chicken, noodle and veggie dish from New Seasons

Kids Bean & Rice Bowl + Chips & Salsa + Red Sangria from Por Que No

Favorite Memory Growing Up?
Sitting on my Dad’s lap driving our black 1984 black GMC Blazer around the neighborhood after he took Mom and I to dinner. No, it wasn’t legal then and it still isn’t. But damn, it was fun!

Favorite Superpower
The power to heal people who are hurting and the power to fly so I could travel anywhere and get there super fast!

Ultimate Vacation
A trip through Europe, Greece, topped off by a cruise through the Mediterranean.

Favorite Movie
The Land Before Time I
House Bunny

Ultimate One Hit Wonder
Tubthumping by Chumbawamba (1997)
Come On Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners holds a close second, don’t get me wrong.

Favorite thing about yourself
I am very easily amused and I will go to the ends of the earth for the people I love.

Favorite feeling
Laughing, smiling, love, and yoga

Biggest Challenge
Overcoming self-doubt

When you’re feeling blue, how do you give yourself a happiness boost?
I spend time with children. They remind me of the important and truly simple things that make life so incredible. Best of all, they just let me be me, they ask with wonder, not judgment, and appreciate the moment. A walk along the beach, boat ride, or a chance to meditate by the water also does the trick!

Describe yourself in one word
Miraculous!

What is your primary Love Language?
Words of Affirmation

Hidden Talent
1. Tying a cherry stem in a knot with my tongue
2. Wiggling my eyes left to right super fast
3. Dancing the Herky Jerky

Where Could We Find You & What Would You Be Doing?
Car dancing everywhere I drive (and yes, even though I live in Portland, I drive… everywhere. Mass transit scares me), in a cozy coffee shop reading motivational/inspirational/business books while sipping a decaf mocha or a predictable Starbucks for a Java Chip Frappuccino, exploring with friends, doing yoga, biking, or playing outside on the river.

Your most odd/irrational fear
Over flowing toilets

Your favorite character trait in others:
Authenticity. Transparency and authenticity are hands-down one of life’s greatest gifts. As we are true to the nature of ourselves, so too are others inspired, encouraged, honored, and liberated to do the same.

Your greatest accomplishment
Choosing my own path and living life on my terms

Describe how you overcame your greatest challenge:
I was born premature with a birth defect that led to 5 major surgeries in the first 19 years of my life. These are the things that helped me through:
Knowing that I am here for a reason,  that I had only recently discovered my purpose and had just begun to share myself with the world and I wanted so much more time to laugh, to fall in love, to experience life, and to do good in the world. I believed that I would survive, and all of life is part of my story. Allowing myself to be where in was and experience the circumstances of being human and reaching out for help when I needed it made all the difference.

Your Hero
I don’t have one, however, there are many people who, combined, inspire me and are my life heroes just in the way they live their lives and move about the world.

That’s All Nice, But What Do You DO?
Oh, right… “The Businessy Stuff That Makes Me Sound All Credible & Amaaaaazing.” I hold a degree in Communications and I am a Certified Professional Coach. I own my own business in Portland, Oregon and currently work with a world-class leadership and professional development company. Woo-woo! Are you wooed yet?

Yep, that’s me dancing the herky jerky.
